My name is Caite and I live in beautiful south Florida. I have a wonderful husband, an incredible daughter, and a 10 yr. old Shih Tzu. I was born and raised in Philadelphia, and I am one of eight (yep, you read that correctly) kids. I have an identical twin sister; fun fact, we just found out about being identical only 8 months ago. The doctor thought we were fraternal, and that is what we stuck with for 53 years. Thanks to 23andMe for confirming what we both thought was true!
I am ready to type, ‘there is nothing special about me’….then I realized… yes, there is. I am here for a reason. I am here for a purpose. Still working on determining that. I will tell you what I do have going for me: I have GRIT! I go after what I want by putting in the hard work. I am not afraid to work long hours to achieve what I believe.
Since I will be blogging for 100 days, I will give you a little history. I have a sugar addiction. You may know and understand that, or you may think it is a made up ‘thing’. I will tell you it’s absolutely real for me. I have seen first-hand the results of this. I know my dad had this addiction, as do some of my family members. I watched what it did to him; the Type II diabetes and all of the complications that come with it. The bad knees, joints, high blood pressure, metabolic syndrome, etc….the list goes on.
Almost 6 years ago, I found a program that changed my life, by changing the trajectory of my health. I lost 82 lbs. and was successful at keeping it off for a very long time. But as you know, life happens. Even though I am assisting many others reclaim their health, I found myself falling into old habits.
So here I am. Being my authentic self. Letting the world know that I am not perfect, but also letting the world know I am CONTENDING for my health with all that I’ve got! I’m using the tools in my tool belt: I’m leaning into my community of support; reading/listening/watching books and podcasts as I work on my mental agility; physical activity – even though it is limited to upper body and core due to a bad knee. I will beat the sugar addiction.
